A Historic Milestone in Mumbai: Aurotoshi’s New Chapter in Metro Rail Safety
On April 7, 2026, Mumbai’s transit landscape took a significant leap forward with the inauguration of Mumbai Metro Line 2B Phase 1. For the team here at Aurotoshi, this wasn’t just a city-wide celebration, it marked a historic technical milestone for our company.
We are proud to announce the successful commissioning of Half-Height Platform Screen Gates (PSG) across three critical stations: BSNL, Mankhurd, and Mandale. This project serves as our official entry into the Platform Screen Door (PSD) and gate market for Indian Metro Rail, proving that Indian OEMs can deliver safety-critical infrastructure at a global standard.
Engineering Safety into the Daily Commute
In a mega-city like Mumbai, passenger safety is the highest priority. Our Platform Screen Gates are designed to do more than just provide a physical barrier, they manage platform airflow, streamline the boarding process, and most importantly, ensure that every commuter remains safe while waiting for their train.
As a strategic sub-contractor to Zhuzhou CRRC Times Electric Co., Ltd., Aurotoshi executed the end-to-end installation, testing, and commissioning of these systems. Executing this alongside a global leader in transit technology reinforces our technical prowess and our ability to handle high-stakes infrastructure projects.
The "Make in India" Vision in Action
This project was much more than a technical installation, it was a true test of engineering resilience. Our team worked around the clock, navigating tight site conditions and intricate technical integrations to ensure every gate functioned perfectly for the grand inauguration.
The Phase 1 corridor was officially inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri. Devendra Fadnavis, in the distinguished presence of Deputy Chief Ministers Shri. Eknath Shinde and Smt. Sunetra Pawar, along with senior officials from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
"Successfully commissioning our first PSG project in a high-stakes environment like the Mumbai Metro reinforces our commitment toward the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission," remarks Siddhant Sachdev, Executive Director at Aurotoshi. "This is one of many steps towards building sophisticated automation systems for the nation's infrastructure under the Make in India scheme."
A Growing Footprint in Mumbai
The success of Line 2B is just the beginning. Our parent group, Aurionpro Solutions Limited, has already secured the order for the Mumbai Metro Line 5 Platform Screen Door package from Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL).
By combining the strengths of Aurotoshi and Aurionpro Transit, we are consolidating our role as a key technology provider for India’s largest metro rail networks. From our ongoing work with the DMRC in Delhi to this latest achievement in Mumbai, we are dedicated to engineering the future of how people move.
Gratitude to Our Partners
We extend our deepest gratitude to MMRDA and Zhuzhou CRRC Times Electric Co., Ltd. for their unwavering trust and collaborative spirit throughout this journey. The partnership has been instrumental in setting a new benchmark for safety and efficiency in Mumbai’s rapidly expanding metro network.
Together, we aren't just building metro lines, we are building a smarter, safer, and more connected future for India.
